The North Schuylkill Football Hall of Fame will celebrate its 50th anniversary by welcoming four new members during the Spartans’ home game against Mount Carmel.
North Schuylkill Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026
The Class of 2026 will be inducted during halftime of the game on Friday, Sept. 18, at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.
This year’s class includes former players Dylan Dietz, Jason Lipshaw and Brandon Rockwell, along with honorary inductee Adam J. Bernodin III.
Dylan Dietz
Dietz, a 2021 North Schuylkill graduate, was a three-year starter at free safety and wide receiver, a two-year starter at punter and a one-year starter at kicker.
As a senior captain in 2020, Dietz was named North Schuylkill’s 2020-21 Scholar Athlete and selected to play in the 2021 Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game. He also earned North First-Team Defense honors.
During his junior season, Dietz was named to the PFN All-State Team, PA Football’s second-team defense, the Standard-Speaker All-Area Team and the Schuylkill League All-League Team. As a sophomore, he earned SCFCA North second-team defense and Republican-Herald second-team defense honors.
Dietz completed his North Schuylkill career with 20 interceptions. He was also a four-year letterman in baseball.
After high school, Dietz graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in digital forensics and cybersecurity. He currently works as a data security team lead with Mamoth ITAD.
Jason Lipshaw
Lipshaw, a 2020 North Schuylkill graduate, was a four-year starter at defensive tackle.
As a sophomore in 2017, he received Standard-Speaker All-Area honorable mention recognition at defensive tackle and nose tackle.
During his junior season, Lipshaw was named to the 2018 Standard-Speaker All-Area Team at nose tackle and defensive tackle. He also earned SCFCA North first-team honors and was selected to the Republican-Herald All-Area Football Team’s second team at defensive tackle.
Lipshaw was named a Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association All-Star following his senior season in 2019. He also participated in track and field for two years.
Lipshaw graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 2024 with degrees in criminal justice and sociology. He currently works as a work release counselor at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility.
Brandon Rockwell
Rockwell, a 2019 North Schuylkill graduate, was a four-year letterman at defensive back and wide receiver.
As a sophomore in 2016, he earned Standard-Speaker All-Area honorable mention recognition at defensive back and ranked among the area’s interception leaders.
During his junior season, Rockwell was named a Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association first-team all-star at defensive back. He also earned Republican-Herald All-Area second-team honors and Standard-Speaker All-Area honorable mention recognition.
Rockwell’s senior season was highlighted by North Schuylkill capturing a district championship in 2018. He earned Standard-Speaker and Republican-Herald All-Area first-team honors at defensive back, along with SCFCA first-team, Dream Team and Schuylkill League Coaches All-Star recognition.
He again ranked among the area’s interception leaders and was listed among the leaders in receiving yards and scoring.
Rockwell completed his football career with 822 receiving yards, 16 interceptions and 12 touchdowns.
He was also a four-year varsity letterman in baseball and played on North Schuylkill’s district championship teams in 2016, 2018 and 2019. Rockwell continued his baseball career at Northampton Community College, where he studied business.
He currently works as a landscaper and serves as a varsity baseball coach at Mount Carmel.
Honorary Inductee Adam J. Bernodin III
Bernodin, a 1994 North Schuylkill graduate, will be inducted as an honorary member in recognition of his work preserving, documenting and sharing the history of the Spartan football program.
Bernodin built and continues to manage the official North Schuylkill Spartan Football website. Through years of research, he has digitized and organized decades of team records, statistics, milestones, photographs and other historical information that previously existed primarily in old files and archives.
His work created a permanent online resource through which current players, students, alumni and community members can explore the program’s history and the traditions established by generations of Spartans.
Bernodin expanded his preservation efforts to include the football history of Ashland High School, one of North Schuylkill’s predecessor schools. His research has helped preserve the accomplishments of the Ashland Black Diamonds, including the 1935 state championship team and the 1948 Eastern Conference Southern Division championship team.
He has also supported efforts to restore and publicly display historic football trophies and artifacts.
Bernodin served on the North Schuylkill School Board from 1999 through 2005, including a term as vice president in 2002. In 2005, he was recognized by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for outstanding service to education and by the North Schuylkill School District for his service and dedication.
Bernodin earned an associate degree in applied science in criminal justice from Luzerne County Community College. He is employed by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Federal Bureau of Prisons at FCI Schuylkill in Minersville and plans to retire at the end of October.
