Schuylkill County schools and booster organizations have an opportunity to turn their signature game-day beef dishes into a $500 prize through Pennsylvania’s third annual Beef’s Best Fall Concession Stand Contest.

The Pennsylvania Beef Council and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association are accepting nominations through . This year’s grand prize doubles last year’s award.

Contest Recognizes School Concession Stands and Volunteers

The statewide contest recognizes creative beef dishes and the volunteers who serve them at school sporting events.

Schools, booster organizations and concession stand volunteers are encouraged to nominate their stands, whether their menu features a signature burger, beef sandwich or another beef dish.

The contest highlights the work of parent volunteers, booster clubs and school organizations that prepare food while raising money for student-athletes and extracurricular programs.

“Some of the best traditions in high school sports happen around the concession stand, where families, fans and volunteers come together to support their schools,” said Kylie Lusk, director of consumer affairs for the Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative.

The Pennsylvania Beef Council coordinates the contest through the Northeast Beef Promotion Initiative, a subcontractor to the Beef Checkoff, in partnership with PIAA.

Spring-Ford’s Kenney Burger Won Last Year

Last year’s winner was Spring-Ford High School’s Boys Soccer Program, recognized for its Kenney Burger. Parent volunteer Daniel Kenney created the made-to-order smash burger, which became a popular fundraiser for the program.

According to the Pennsylvania Beef Council, sales of the Kenney Burger during just three home games surpassed the concession stand’s total sales from the entire previous year.

“Concession stands are an important part of the high school sports experience, and the volunteers who operate them contribute so much to their school communities,” said Nichole Hockenberry, executive director of the Pennsylvania Beef Council.

The contest is part of the council’s ongoing partnership with PIAA, which designates beef as the association’s Preferred Protein. Schools participating in the council’s PA Beef to PA Schools program are also encouraged to enter.

How to Nominate a Concession Stand

Schools, booster organizations and concession stand volunteers can submit nominations through November 10, 2026, using the Pennsylvania Beef Council’s Beef’s Best Fall Concession Stand Contest page.
