OBITUARY: Loretta Callaghan, 81, of Washington Township

Loretta Callaghan
, 81, of Washington Township, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning at home surrounded by family.

Born on December 20, 1940 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Cherkis Dolzani. She was a 1958 graduate of Minersville High School, and a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse, she worked at the former Pottsville Hospital and also provided private duty nursing. She had also been employed by the former Meck’s Knitting Mill, Schuylkill Haven.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven, and also served as an assistant leader of Diakon’s PrimeTime Health Exerettes in the Schuylkill Haven area.

She enjoyed camping and was also an accomplished ceili dancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Raymond P. Callaghan; a son, Raymond K. Callaghan, Sr.; two nieces, Joyce Pellish and Kelly Starr; her mother-in-law, Helen Callaghan; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Krupo and Jean Woodford.

Loretta is survived by two sons, Brian Callaghan (spouse of Teri), Pine Grove, and Kevin Callaghan (fiancĂ© of Melissa Patterson), Schuylkill Haven; three grandchildren, Raymond K. Callaghan, Jr., (spouse of Sabrina), Dezirae Callaghan, and Brittany Callaghan Koop (spouse of Dylan); three great-grandsons, Kyler Raymond Callaghan, Nolan Callaghan and Damian Koop. She is also survived by a brother, Raymond Dolzani (spouse of Darlene), Orwigsburg; three nieces, Kimberly Dove (spouse of Glenn), Tara Dolzani (spouse of Pam Hartz) and Donna Rae Corby (widow of David); three nephews, Thomas Krupo (spouse of Colleen), Keith Woodford (spouse of Sheila) and Glenn Woodford; a brother-in-law, Loren “Woody” Woodford.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. and at St. Ambrose Church, 201 Randel Street, Schuylkill Haven, on Thursday from 9:15 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
