Ashland Man In Prison After Stabbing Tower City Man

Police were called to 921 Brock St., Ashland, on Wednesday evening around 10:50PM.  When they arrived, they found Joseph Scheib, with a stab wound to his hand and chest.

Police charged James Whitman, 23, with the stabbing.  Whitman is the owner of the residence.  Scheib is from Tower City.


Whitman was to have believed to have fled the scene towards Vine St. when officers arrived and searched the area but were later called back to the residence where he was found hiding in the basement.

Whitman was taken into custody and committed to Lebanon County Prison for an earlier warrant for not appearing for a hearing.

Whitman is charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, possessing the instruments of a crime and making terroristic threats.

Scheib's condition is not known at this time.
