A man was killed early today (Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014) after his pickup truck crashed and hit a utility pole along Andreas Road in Andreas (West Penn Township). Emergency personnel were called to the area of 25 Andreas Road around 2:45 AM for a report of a pickup truck, a black Nissan Titan, on its side with entrapment.

“I heard a loud noise and looked outside,” said nearby resident Christopher Wolfe, who ran outside in his pajamas to offer aid to the driver. Tire tracks on scene showed that the truck was traveling south on Andreas Road when it veered off the road and flipped. Soley’s Towing helped secure the vehicle during the response. A medical helicopter was placed on standby, but later canceled.

Responding were West Penn Police, West Penn Fire Company, Penn Mahoning Ambulance and Lehighton Ambulance. The road was closed over an hour while police investigated.

UPDATE:  The man who died in the crash was 21 year old, Brian Watkins, both WNEP and Republican Herald reported.
