Overnight Fire in Ashland, Reported to Be Started By Homeowner

Around 1:30am Wednesday, Ashland Police were called to 1331 Walnut Street, Ashland, after a neighbor called police for the owner of 1331 was causing a disturbance and was throwing contents from the house into the street.

When Police arrived, the homeowner had already left the scene, so they broke down the door to the home and found the home was filled with heavy smoke.

Ashland, Mt. Carmel, and Girardville Fire Departments responded along with various tankers from around the area.

Within an hour crews had put the fire out but remained on the scene.

The call came is as an Act 64 which means it was related to a controlled substance.

The suspect was reportedly to have been in custody shortly after.

No injuries were reported.
