Standoff in Frackville Ends Peacefully Early Thursday

A nearly 4 hour standoff ended peacefully early Thurday morning in Frackville.

The standoff began after 8pm when police attempted to serve warrant on Steven Androshick, 49, 29 South 4th Street, for failing to appear in court.  They also found Harry Baney, 28, who was also wanted .  Both men refused to leave the home and ignored commands from police to exit the residence.

Police from Schuylkill County and surrounding counties were called in to aide in the standoff along with a SWAT team.

Residents who lived nearby were told to stay in their homes, and no one was allowed in our out of the block that was blocked off.   Route 61 near the scene was also closed off.

The Boyers' Market parking lot was used as a staging area for the police.

The standoff lasted almost 4 hours when after midnight, swat teams began using stun grenades to drive the men out of the home.

Just before 12:30am, both Androschick and Baney, exited the home with their hands in the air and surrendered peacefully to police.

Both men were taken into custody and placed in Schuylkill County jail.
