Woman Taken into Custody After Crash in Tamaqua Early Thursday

A woman was taken into custody by Tamaqua Police around 1:40 AM today (Thursday, October 2, 2014) after crashing her car into a parked SUV (Kia Sorrento) on East Mauch Chunk Street in Tamaqua.

The woman was driving a white Ford Mustang, which was disabled in the middle of the road when officers arrived. The impact caused the front of the Kia to be pushed onto the curb. Damage to the Mustang varied from the front passenger side, as well as rear of the vehicle.

That section of East Mauch Chunk Street (near the intersection of North Greenwood Street) was closed for about 30 minutes during the incident.

Hope’s Towing removed the vehicle.

Coaldale Police assisted Tamaqua Police during the investigation. It is not known if any charges were filed. No more information is available.
