Woman Dead After Standoff with Police

Police, along with other law enforcement, were called to Bear Creek Street in Auburn on Monday morning for a woman who allegedly barricaded herself into her home.


According to the Republican Herald, Ana Emelia Torres, 42, then threatened to kill herself and possibly another person.

Police units from around the area were called to the scene along with armored vehicles.  Residents near the home were asked to leave their home for safety issues and streets around were closed.

Police entered the home early afternoon and found the Torres dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

According to residents that live nearby, the incident ended around 2pm.

The Schuylkill County Coroner's office is still investigating the cause of death.
