Woman Dies in Friday Morning Fire

Just after 8:00am, Friday, emergency personnel were called to 719 North Centre Street, Pottsville, for a working structure fire.

When crews arrived, they found the home heavily engulfed in smoke in the rear, as well as small explosions which were said to be from oxygen canisters.

According to the Republican Herald, Fire crews later recovered the body of Joan Marie Wallace, 58.

Wallace reportedly lived at the home with her husband and daughter who were not home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  A dog was also injured in the fire.
