Charges Pending After Bomb Threat; Pine Grove Area Students Dismissed Early Tuesday

Pine Grove Area Students Dismissed Tuesday Due to Bomb Threat
Students of the Pine Grove Area School District were dismissed Tuesday after a bomb threat was found in a bathroom of the high school.

According to the district's Superintendent Dr. Kendy Klahr Hinkel, when the threat was found Tuesday morning, Local and State Police were notified immediately as the district's emergency system went into effect.  Dr. Hinkel could not go into detail what their emergency system involved but did say that students were kept safe at all times.

The decision was later made to send the students home while the schools were searched.  Secondary School students were sent home at 1:00PM and Elementary at 1:45PM.

The schools were cleared later Tuesday afternoon.

A call went out to parents and news media to notify of the early dismissal and a second call was placed Tuesday afternoon after the schools were cleared to notify that school would resume Wednesday.

For parents who did not receive the phone calls notifying them of the early dismissal or classes resuming, they can update their information through the school's portal at http://www.pgasd.com/ or fill out a form that can be obtained from the school.

According to Dr. Hinkel, charges are pending but could not go into any details due to it being a juvenile.
