TRAFFIC ALERT: Beam Setting on Route 61 in Pottsville on Thursday

PennDOT has announced they will be doing beam setting on the Route 61 Bridge over the Schuylkill River in Pottsville on Thursday.

BETWEEN: Bacon Street AND US 209/Mauch Chunk Street
Type of Work: Bridge Repair
Work being Done By: PENNDOT Contractor
Type of Restriction: Sporadic
RESTRICTION: One of the two PA 61 northbound lanes will be closed. Also, there will be four intermittent stoppages of all traffic on PA 61 north and south lasting approximately 15-20 minutes each.

Workers will be setting beams on the new PA 61 Bridge over the Schuylkill River.

The work is part of a $10,568,416 project to replace the PA 61 "Mady's" Bridges (one over Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad in the City of Pottsville and Palo Alto Borough, and the other over the Schuylkill River in the City of Pottsville).

The project began in Jan. 2014 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
