Flood Watch Issued

A flood watch has been issued due heavy rain expected for Friday night into Saturday.

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR A PORTION OF CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...ADAMS...BEDFORD...BLAIR...CAMBRIA... CAMERON...CLEARFIELD...COLUMBIA...CUMBERLAND...DAUPHIN...ELK... FRANKLIN...FULTON...HUNTINGDON...JUNIATA...LANCASTER... LEBANON...MCKEAN...MIFFLIN...MONTOUR...NORTHERN CENTRE... NORTHERN CLINTON...NORTHERN LYCOMING...NORTHUMBERLAND... PERRY...POTTER...SCHUYLKILL...SNYDER...SOMERSET...SOUTHERN CENTRE...SOUTHERN CLINTON...SOUTHERN LYCOMING...SULLIVAN... TIOGA...UNION...WARREN AND YORK.

* FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT

* HEAVY RAIN WITH SOME EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS WILL OVERSPREAD CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA LATER TODAY AND EARLY TONIGHT. THE RAIN COULD REACH 2 TO 3 INCHES OVER A LARGE PORTION OF THE AREA BY SATURDAY EVENING.

* MANY AREAS WILL SEE CREEKS AND STREAM SWELL AND EXCEED THEIR BANKS. URBAN FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE. THE SMALLER RIVERS MAY ALSO EXCEED BANK FULL. THE LARGER RIVERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE THIS RAIN WITHOUT FLOODING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING ON SMALL STREAMS...CREEKS...POOR DRAINAGE...URBAN AND LOW-LYING AREAS BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
