Ashland's ABA Parade Scheduled for This Saturday

The annual Ashland Boys Association Parade is scheduled for this Saturday, September 5th at 6pm in the borough.

Organizers have been planning and fundraising all year for the event.

ABA President, Stephanie Abalo says about 30 registrations for the parade have been received so far and those interested can still register day the of the parade.

New to the parade this year is that marchers will be added back to the parade.  When the parade returned in 2011, the parade was limited to just motorized vehicle.

Adam J. Bernodin III has been chosen this year as the parade's Grand Marshal.  Abalo says organizers wanted to recognize Bernodin for all the hard work he had put into the parade the last few years.

After the parade declined years ago, Bernodin was proactive in reorganizing the parade to what it has become today as well as organizing the historical marker for the Mother's Memorial.

Abalo says "We would like to thank everyone in the community, residences and businesses who has donated and supported the ABA parade. We would love to build this tradition back to the way it once used to be all those years ago.
With the help from the community we can make this happen in the years to come."

Abalo also wanted to thank the parade committee, Lisa Llewellyn, Patty Kerstetter, Katie Cole, and Kathy Weikel.

Donations for the parade can still be made through M&T Bank in Ashland.  A Chinese Auction is also scheduled for November 14th at the Fountain Springs Fire Company.
