Adult and Child Struck by Vehicle in Crosswalk Wednesday Morning

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, around 08:15am, Wednesday, they were dispatched to the area of Fourth St. and Market St., Port Carbon, for a report of two pedestrians, an adult and a child, being struck by a vehicle.

An investigation revealed the pedestrians were legally crossing Market Street in a crosswalk, while a crosswalk attendant holding a stop sign stopped traffic in both direction on Market Street.

As the pedestrians were crossing the crosswalk, a vehicle traveling Southbound on Market Street, failed to stop at the stop sign signal and struck both the adult and the child in the crosswalk.

Both pedestrians were taken to Schuylkill Med Center East Norwegian with minor injuries.

The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven are still investigating.
