McCann Madness Career Exploration Event

Pottsville, Pa. (February 26, 2016) – McCann School of Business and Technology, 2650 Woodglen Rd., is hosting its annual “McCann Madness” career exploration event for high school juniors and seniors on THURSDAY, March 17, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“This event helps students get a glimpse of what it would be like to work in various career fields by letting them roll up their sleeves and try the work,” said Lori Kane, High School & Community Relations Coordinator for McCann. “It is especially helpful for students who may not know what field they want to pursue after graduation.”

This annual career exploration event provides hands on exposure in number of career paths including: business, technology, massage, trades, and allied health. This year’s event will feature hands on electrical wiring and a soldering project with Trade Program Director Tim Brady. Teams of students will complete program-specific tasks and compete for a trophy.

Community partners will also be participating in McCann Madness:
  • Cpl. Ron Kazakavage of the Pennsylvania State Police will discuss the dangers of drugs
  • Lehigh Valley Health Network will provide a texting simulator
  • Courtney Fasnacht and Matt Shuey from the Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Council will discuss important skills needed to thrive in the workplace
The event is free and all high school juniors and seniors from the area are encouraged to attend. Last year’s event had over 150 high school students in attendance.
