Red Flag Warning Issued for Eastern Pennsylvania for Tuesday

The National Weather serviced upgraded it's Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday afternoon and evening.


RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* AFFECTED AREA...CENTRAL AND EASTERN PARTS OF THE COMMONWEALTH.

* WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY...20 TO 30 PERCENT.

* TIMING...MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND PEAK WINDS BETWEEN 1 PM AND 6 PM.

* IMPACTS...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT AND SPREAD OF WILD FIRES...OR FOR PRESCRIBED BURNS TO GET OUT OF CONTROL. OUTDOOR BURNING IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW....OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES CAN CONTRIBUTE TO EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR.
