Vintage Cars, Street Stocks Part of Five-Division Show This Friday At Big Diamond Speedway

MINERSVILLE, PA. -- A five-division racing card is on top this Friday at Big Diamond Speedway as the Blast From The Past Vintage Stock Car Club and the No Sweat Service Group street stocks join the U.S.S. Achey sportsman, Savage 61 roadrunners and 600 modifieds.

The gates open Friday at 5:30 with warmups at 7:45 and racing gets underway at 8:15. General admission is $12; seniors, $10, and kids 12-and-under and active military with a valid ID are free.

With the return of the streets stocks, there will be a helmet collection which will take place during intermission for injured sprint car driver Jake Waters. Jasen’s Automotive Service and the speedway will match the total collected on Friday night to assist the Waters’ family with their medical expenses.

Rich Bossinger leads the street stock standings by 75 markers over Eric Tripp. Jeremy Becker, Elvin Brennan III and Jasen Geesaman round out the top five.

The Blast From The Past Vintage Stock Car Club has a membership that has grown to more than 40 modifieds dating back to the mid-1960s, including a few cars that are the original cars that raced around the coal region. The club will return to the speedway again on Friday, Sept. 2.

Following his fifth win last week, Brandon Grosso has reclaimed the sportsman points lead by 18 points over Tim Fitzpatrick with Ray Woodall, Jr., Wayne Witmer and Mike Lisowski rounding out the top five.

In winning two of the four Crazy 8s features last week in the roadrunners division, Andy Fayash III has opened a 394-point lead over Jim Kost. Kody Sites, who had entered last week second in the roadrunner points, dropped to fifth after ending his night in the third feature with a bent frame. Steve Gromis and Terry Kramer are third and fourth in the points respectively.

Ryan Godown leads Jeff Strunk by 116 points in the CJ’s Tire & Automotive Services 358 modified division with Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren and Rick Laubach rounding out the top five.

Coming up on July 29 it will be the Red White and Blue Autos Night with twin 20-lap features for the 358 modifieds. Also on the card that night will be the very popular ARDC midgets, along with the roadrunners and an Enduro 60. General admission for July 29 is $25 with kids 12-and-under along with active military with a valid ID are free.
