Police Searching for Suspect in Early Morning Stabbing

(10/08/16) Early Saturday morning, around 1:00am, the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville responded to the 1200-1400 blocks of Spruce Street, in Ashland, for the report of a man with severe lacerations.

According to Police, the victim was taken for treatment relating to multiple stab and/or slice wounds. 

During an investigation, Harold McGurl, 43, formerly of Ashland,  was identified as the person who attacked the victim.  McGurl's last known address is the Wernersville Community Corrections Center, Wernersville, PA.

McGurl was last seen in the borough not long after the incident and police are still continuing to search for the suspect.

The Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office approved Attempted Homicide Charges, and a warrant has been issued for McGurl's arrest. 

Police have considered McGurl armed and dangerous.
