Domestic Incident Ends Peacefully

A domestic incident ended peacefully Thursday.

According to Pottsville Bureau of Police, On Thursday, around 9:00am they received a report of a domestic disturbance at 2272 W. Norwegian Street involving a vehicle being driven through a living room wall. Police also received information indicating the female resident was in fear of the residence being set on fire and she was currently hiding in the basement of the home.

Upon arrival police found a full size Toyota pickup truck that had been driven through the garage door into an Audi parked inside. As police began to check the residence perimeter the female resident left the basement and told officers that her boyfriend was still inside and that he had driven the truck through the garage door after they had been arguing throughout the night.

Despite police using several methods to initiate contact with the male inside the home, including the use of the siren and public address system of a marked patrol car, the male resident did not respond. Approximately one hour later, the male resident exited the home and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Inspection of the vehicle damage revealed the Toyota truck had gone through the closed garage bay door, striking the back of the Audi, which was then forced into the wall separating the living room from the garage, causing damage to both vehicles and extensive damage to the wall and the living room fireplace and mantel.

Police say the investigation is continuing and further information will be provided when warranted.
