Man Admits to Friday Evening Shooting; Victim in Stable Condition

An argument led a shooting Friday Evening.

According to Shenandoah Police, on 4/14/2017 around 10:11pm, Police responded to the intersection of Gilbert & Cherry Sts for a report of a male with gunshot wounds.

Police say they found Alex Spaid, 31, with gun shot wounds to the right side of his head and right arm.  Police said Spaid was shot by Leo James, 58, of 400 West Cherry Street in Shenandoah.

Spaid and James had been reportedly involved in an argument over an incident which began approximately one month prior. The argument escalated to where James produced a handgun and fired it at Spaid.

Spaid was flown to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he was listed in stable condition.

Leo James was interviewed at the Shenandoah Police Station where he admitted to shooting Spaid.

James was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault and firearms violations.

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $200,000.00 straight cash bail.

State Police, Frackville Police, and Mahanoy City Police also responded and assisted at the scene.
