A man is facing charges after assault a State Police Officer in Berks County late Thursday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, on Thursday, around 11:10 PM, the Pennsylvania State Police at Reading was dispatched to Blind Hartman’s Tavern, located at 2910 Pricetown Rd Alsace Twp., Berks County,  for a disturbance involving Theodore Laferriere, 27, of Reading.

Police say Laferrire was asked to leave the bar several times by the manager.  The manager then escorted him out of the bar, where Laferriere spit in the face and shoved the manager.  Another employee was also pushed as he assisted the manager.

When troopers arrived Laferriere was laying on the ground outside near the front door.  As the troopers approached him,  he got up and was acting aggressively to the employees.  He told one of the employees he would "kick their ass".  Both troopers approached him to keep him from the crowd and began escorting him to the parking lot.  Laferriere was non-compliant with directions from the troopers, where eh was then taken down to the ground where he continued to be non-compliant to the troopers’ orders.

As the troopers were trying to gain control of him their heads struck.  This caused one of the troopers to suffer a broken nose.  Laferriere was taken into custody after a brief struggle.  Along with the
broken nose both troopers suffered abrasions and were treated and released at Reading Hospital.
