Weeklong Entertainment Scheduled for the Schuylkill County Fair

Lots and lots of Pure Ag-entertainment at this year’s Schuylkill County Fair found at multiple venues at various times to accommodate the fair goer.

The Schuylkill County Fair will be in full swing July 31 through August 5 opening each day at 4PM.

The exception to this is Tuesday and Saturday of fair week when the fair opens to the public at 11AM. Tuesday is Kids day and Saturday is family day. Speaking of kids and family you can’t beat the price with a $5.00 general admission with 12 years of age and under free. That makes the Fair a family value entertainment.

Entertainment can be found all over the grounds. Goodtimes Amusement, LLC of Hellertown, PA will be returning for its fourth successful year as the midway amusement ride company. Goodtime Amusements was established in 1988. They are a family run business, which provides amusement services to various non-profit organizations. Operating solely in the eastern portion of Pennsylvania, Goodtime provides their sponsors with up to 20 rides along with food and game concessions. Rides from the thrill rides like the zipper or starship 3000, to the family rides like

the rocking out and classic tilt-a-whirl there is something for everyone. The little tikes will not be disappointed as we have all the great kiddie rides for them.

At the amphitheater behind the FARM Food Stand fairgoers will find the Muttville Comix. Sit! Stay! Get ready to howl! Meet Johnny Peers and his clown partners, THE MUTTVILLE COMIX! The Muttville Comix will be performing all week long. You can find this Howling act at the amphitheater where they will be performing daily at 6 and 8 pm. Special Kids Day performances on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The performers are sponsored by Hess Catering and Bob Weaver Chevrolet Buick GMC.

Stroll through the lush trees at the east end of the Fairgrounds to find the Weston Pavilion where you will find Peggy Hentz from Red Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation. Peggy will be providing multiple opportunities to speak on the importance of saving our wildlife, the environment and the planet for future generations. Peggy and her rehabilitated creatures that were not able to fend of themselves and be released back into the wild will be presenting programs at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 daily. Tuesday a special program will go on during kids Day at 4:30 and again on Saturday on Family Day at 4:30. The Weston Pavillion is sponsored by Weston Estate, Thrivent Financial, Willow Creek Veterinary Center, and Schuylkill Area Community Foundation.

While at the Weston Pavilion stop in and say hi to Porcupine Pat in the Shadle Nature Center. Programs presented by Porcupine Pat, Environmental Educator from the Schuylkill Conservation District in the James Shadel Nature Center will be presented daily. Enjoy a change of pace during a busy fair day as you step inside the Nature Center and view many of the new exhibits featuring plants, animals, geology and natural history of the area. Operating hours for the Nature Center are Monday through Friday 4, Tuesday 1 to and Saturday 4. Speak with Porcupine Pat about the latest environmental issues and their impact on the area.

Take in a daily show at the Schaeffer’s Harley Davidson/Motor Sports Stage at 5:30 and 6:30. Monday and Thursday be entertained by the Magic of Tom Yurasits. Tuesday see Artist in Motion

form here in Schuylkill County. Wednesday take in the show done by Wagstaff and Company. Friday and Saturday students under the direction of the talented Tamara Wapinsky Studio will be performing.

Walk the upper midway and stop in the Farming for A Day Tent for pure Ag-tainment in it’ purest form under the direction of the Tri-Valley FFA and the Dunn Family. Stop by Todd Gladfelder as he carves with expert precision into the logs producing wonders of nature related art with his chainsaw daily at 5:30. Step inside form some hands on fun in the kids Tent with the Arts Barn Educators and take home some art.

Catch the tractors on parade daily at 4:30 with special times on Tuesday and Saturday at 1:30. Speaking of catching Trout Unlimited can teach you to ty flies so you can catch that big fish. Stop in the Sportsman Building at 6:30 daily and learn how to ty some flies.

So much to see and do at the various venues at eh Schuylkill county Fir that it will take you at least 2 days to do so. So come early and leave late to be able to take it all in.
