Veterans Clinic Announced to Open in Schuylkill County

A Veterans Clinic has been announced to open in Schuylkill County.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Lebanon VA Medical Center has awarded a new contract for a contractor-owned and -operated community clinic within Schuylkill County to STG International, Inc. (STGi). The new clinic will be located at 1410 Laurel Blvd., Pottsville.

The contract for existing Schuylkill clinic operations in Pottsville and Frackville is set to end Jan. 31, 2018. Veterans are slated to transition to the new facility for appointments beginning Feb. 1, 2018. Veterans will report to this new location for care. There will be no other change or interruption in medical services to Veterans. All Veteran medical records will be transferred to the new location.

The new Pottsville-based Schuylkill County Community Clinic will provide a full range of onsite primary care and telehealth services for Veterans in Schuylkill County to include mental and behavioral health, laboratory and women’s health services. The new clinic will be approximately 9,400 square feet and is projected to serve over 2,500 enrolled Veterans within the first year. Schuylkill Haven-based contractor, Miller Bros. Construction, Inc., began demolition and started renovations to the existing structure Sept. 1.

Employees at existing clinics under the prior contractor will be invited to apply for positions with STGi. A job fair seeking qualified candidates to work at the new clinic will be held Sept. 29 from 3-5:30 p.m. and Sept. 30 from 9 a.m.-noon. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available through the contractor for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinic managers (RN), registered nurses, licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/LVN), phlebotomists, telehealth technicians and medical assistants.

STGi will oversee and facilitate a seamless transition to full-clinic operations for the new clinic. The STGi team’s focus will be on a well-designed, accessible facility that will ensure the delivery of primary care in a welcoming and modern environment.
