Two Face Drug Charges After Warrant Served

West Mahanoy Township Police have filed charges as a result of an attempt to serve a warrant on August 6th in the Altamont Section of the Township when Township.

Police were alerted that an individual with an active warrant was possibly located at a local motel. After verifying the warrant, Township Police made contact with the individual. While speaking to the individual, several items of drug paraphernalia were located.

Another individual in the room was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance.

As a result of this incident, Theodore Stang of Tremont, and Francis Kehler of Shenandoah, were both charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kehler was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Both individuals will have to answer to these charges before Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, Frackville.

Police Investigating Bomb Threat at Blue Mountain

According to Orwigsburg Police, on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at approximately 9:20 a.m. the department received information from the Blue Mountain Middle School that a written threat stating that the school would explode was discovered inside a bathroom stall.

As a result, all students and faculty were immediately evacuated from the school to a safe location as police began to conduct their investigation.

Pennsylvania State Police bomb sniffing dogs responded and conducted a thorough search of the campus which concluded that the school was free of any explosive devices. School was returned to session by 12:45 p.m.


A thorough investigation is still underway and anyone with information regarding today's events is urged to contact the Orwigsburg Police Departmen
