Police Arrest 3 for Stealing from Church During Service

Police arrested 3 individuals after they stole from a church during a service Wednesday evening.


According to McAdoo Police, on Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 around 7:00pm they responded to St. Mary's Church, located at 210 West Blaine Street, for a reported robbery.

The Parish Priest and parishioners told police that during mass, two males and a female entered the church and stole candles and community donations.

McAdoo Police were assisted by the Kline Township Police.

The three were later identified as Anthony Powell, 48, of McAdoo, Brandy Lorah, 27, of Barnesville, and David Benitez, 35, of McAdoo.

Police later found all 3 and were taken into custody by 8:30pm of that evening.

Powell and Lorah were charged with theft and receiving stolen property and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Benitez was taken into custody by Schuylkill Probation Officials for an outstanding warrant.  Charges against Benitez are pending for the robbery incident.
