Police Arrest Woman for Theft of Vehicle in Mahanoy City

The Mahanoy City Police have made an arrest for the theft of a vehicle over the weekend.


According to police, on March 3rd, 2018 , a victim reported a theft of her 2004 Honda Pilot. The theft occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday.

On Monday, March 6th, 2018 at approximately 9:20pm, Officers from the Mahanoy City Police Department recovered the vehicle, and simultaneously made an arrest in the Auto Theft.



Police charged Mari Powell, 21, with a last known address of Parker, Colorado, with the Felony violations of Theft by Unlawful Taking, Receiving Stolen Property and Misdemeanor Violation of Unauthorized Use of an Automobile. Powell was arraigned, and was committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of bail.

Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky stated "This investigation and its timely conclusion would not have been possible without the assistance of the public. This is a fine example of the partnership that the Mahanoy City Police Department has fostered with the community- and its benefits. This partnership allows the MCPD to complete its mission, and makes a safer community."
