Three Families Displaced After Ringtown Fire Friday Evening

A fire in Ringtown Friday evening damaged the homes of three families.

Around 8:50pm, Friday, fire crews were called to 26 Main Street, Ringtown, for working structure fire.  Not long after crews arrived the fire was upgraded to a 2nd, then 3rd alarm calling in most of the northern Schuylkill County, Columbia County and Luzerne County fire units for a tanker task force.

Crews remained on scene fighting the fire for over an hour an a half before being downgraded back to 1st alarm fire around 10:30pm.  High winds were a factor in fighting the fire.  One firefighter also was reported to have been injured.

The fire destroyed the homes at 26, 28, and 30 Main Street displacing the 3 families that lived in the homes.  The American Red Cross will be helping those families that include 6 adults and 2 teenagers.  All pets were safely rescued as well.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

This was the 3rd fire that Schuylkill County Fire fighters battled on Friday along with numerous other calls for the weather.
