Woman Rescued from Roof During Frackville Fire on Friday Afternoon

A woman was rescued during a fire in Frackville Friday afternoon.

Around 2:30pm, Friday, fire crews were called to 9 South Railroad Street, Frackville, for a working structure fire.

Police and fire crews were first to arrive and found a woman waiting for help on a front porch roof.  Officers were able to use a ladder to get the woman to safety.  She was not injured.

The fire was under control and out within a half an hour.

Officials at the scene told Skook News that the fire appeared to have originated in a first floor front room of the home.  

Even with high winds, firefighters kept the majority of the fire damage to 9 South Railroad Street which was listed as moderate, 7 South Railrood Street sustained minor damage.

Two adults that live in 9 South Railroad Street are being helped by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  A State Police Fire Marshall will be called in to investigate.
