Thomas C. Whalen, 80, of Barnesville, passed away Saturday, April 21st, peacefully and surrounded by family, at his residence in Limerick.

Thomas was born in Mahanoy City, PA on November 21, 1937, a son of the late Margaret (Brady) and Daniel Whalen.

He was a member of St. Richards Church Barnesville, and St. Teresa of Calcutta in Limerick.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Tom retired as a regional group manager for Security Mutual

Life Insurance Binghamton, NY.

He was past president of the Mahanoy Area School Board, and Mahanoy City Golf Club. Tom was also a member of the Mahanoy City ELKS.

Tom graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy, Class of 1955. He went on to graduate from Mount St. Mary's College with a Bachelors degree in Business.

He was the husband of Sandra (Pugh) Whalen.

Thomas is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Luciani, companion of Ryan Romanski, of Royersford, a sister, Anne Krukas, of Barnesville, two brothers, James, husband of Carol, of Mahanoy City; Larry, husband of Georgine, of Linglestown; and by 1 grand daughter Lauren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by a brother in law Paul Krukas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Richards Church, Barnesville, at 11AM on Friday, April 27th, with Rev. Joseph Whalen officiating.

Friends may call Friday 9:30 AM at St. Richards Church.

Interment will follow at St. Canicus Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Family prefers donation to the Mahanoy City Library.

Franklin Joseph Schuetrum, Sr., 54, of Pottsville, PA and formerly Tamaqua, PA, died on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in Pottsville.

Born in Coaldale, PA on April 6, 1964, he was a son of Beatrice Lois (nee Hosler) Schuetrum of Tamaqua and the late Marvin J. Schuetrum, Sr. Franklin formerly worked for Jaindl’s Turkey Farm and the Beacon Diner.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Tamaqua; a social member of American Hose Company, Tamaqua; and a social member of the Tamaqua American Legion.

In addition to his mother, Franklin is survived by his son, Franklin J. Schuetrum, Jr. of Coplay, PA; brother, Marvin J. Schuetrum, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Tamaqua; sisters, Lois Diane York and her husband Michael of Norfolk, VA, Carol Sparich of Tamaqua, Debrah Schuetrum of Tamaqua, Sandra J. Andrews of Tamaqua, and Tina M. Miller and her husband Carl of Tamaqua; 5 nephews; and 6 nieces.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by daughter Heather Schuetrum.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 503 West Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Phyllis Wolford officiating.

Robert L. D'Agostino, Jr. 54, of N. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at home.

Born on August 8, 1963 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Robert L. D'Agostino Sr.
Robert attended Minersville High School.

He was employed at Pflueger Roofing, Pottsville and Yuengling Brewery, Pottsville.

Robert was a member of H. H. & L. Fire Co., #1, North End Fire Co., Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, Oak Grove Sportsmans Club and the Sons of Italy Club in Lock Haven.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, John and Anthony D'Agostino.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Lisa Kissinger D'Agostino; a son, Dennis D'Agostino and fiancée Paige Kalbach; a granddaughter, Teigan D'Agostino; two brothers, Michael and wife Michelle D'Agostino, Thomas and wife Michelle D'Agostino, both of Minersville; a sister, Christine and husband Christopher Fritz of Schuylkill Haven; a step mother Janice Weaver D'Agostino of Minersville, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 8:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Chuck Lemaster officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Frank A. D’Attilio, 77, of Minersville, died Monday at The Gardens at York Terrace.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Helen Williams D’Attilio. He was a 1959 graduate of Minersville High School, where he was the class vice-president and captain of the football team. He was trained as a diesel mechanic in Elizabethtown; and operated the former Frankie’s Café in Minersville. He later operated an automobile service station. He was last employed by Tom Schaeffer's Camping & Travel Center, Shoemakersville, as a Recreational Vehicle Technician.

He was an Army veteran.

He was a member of the former St. Barbara Church, Minersville. He was also a life member of AMVETS Post 180, Pottsville. He enjoyed traveling, model trains and old Western movies.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Sebock and Kathleen D’Attilio.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Jean Bannan; two sons, Nicholas D’Attilio (companion, Lee Ann Kasha), Pottsville, and Joseph D’Attilio (spouse, Arlene), Drexel Hill; two grandchildren, Justin and Angelina D’Attilio; a sister, Marguerite Tutko (spouse, Eugene), Saint Clair; nieces and nephews.

Services are private. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township.
