Big Diamond Modifieds will Attempt to Go "Topless" Again This Friday

Unsettled weather forced Big Diamond Speedway to postpone last Friday night’s “Topless” Modified show until this Friday May 11th.

The dirt oval nestled up in “God’s Country” will once again try to get this first-time event done and in the books.

The Mattera’s Electric and General Contracting 358 Modifieds will race for a first-place prize of $5000 in the 35-lap feature event. The difference in this week’s race is the modifieds will race in “Topless” fashion minus the roof, windows and door posts.

It will a different view for the fans as they will get a chance to see into the cockpits of the high powered Modifieds. The fans will see how these drivers are forced to manhandle the over one-ton missiles around the track and witness what it takes to drive one of these small block modifieds. It should be a fun and wild night for all and you won’t want to miss it!

Rules for this event are: Door post, Roof and Windows must be removed. Quarter panel must be flat with no triangle pieces attached to the top. This will be a full points event. A draw will take place for the heat races and the feature will start heads up from the heats. All other Big Diamond Modified 358 rules apply. The feature event will start 24 cars.

The USS Achey Sportsman cars along with the Savage 61 Roadrunners and the No Sweat Service Group Street Stocks will run under normal rules and be a part of this first time ever event.

General Admission is $20, Seniors $18, Kids 11-12 are $10. Children 10 and under will be admitted free and Active Military with ID are free.

Gates open a 5:30 with warmups at 7:30. Racing will begin at 8:00.

The following Friday night, May 18th will feature the first appearance of the USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint Cars along with the Midgets, Roadrunner and Street Stocks. Big Diamond Modified star Ryan Godown will be hand to compete with the USAC field and hopefully take advantage of his knowledge of the track.

COMING UP! On Saturday May 19th and Sunday May 20th, the All-Star Monster Trucks Tour will be making a stop at the speedway. The two-day event is sponsored by Red, White & Blue Autos. There will also be freestyle Motocross sponsored by Schaeffer’s Motorsports & Tough Trucks. This is sure to be a exciting event for the family.
