Mahanoy City Police Make Arrest in Burglary Investigation

Mahanoy City Police have made an arrest after an investigation into a March burglary in the borough.


According to Mahanoy City Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, on May 16, 2018, the Mahanoy City Police filed charges against Joahua Derk, 28, of Mahanoy City, for the offenses of Burglary and Criminal Trespass. 

The charges were filed by Corporal Charles Kovalewski following the completion of an investigation into a break in at a residence in the 900 block of E. Mahanoy St. which happened between the 28th and 29th of March. 

The defendant was arraigned on the violations on May 17th, and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of bail. 

A preliminary hearing will be held on May 24, 2018 at Magisterial District Judge Kilker's office, Shenandoah.
