Jeffrey C. Gray, 59, of Pottsville, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a long battle of mental illness and kidney disease; on Saturday, May 26th, at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident.

Born in Bethlehem on July 27, 1958, he was a son of Joan O. (Schruff) Gray, of Orwigsburg and Robert W. Gray, Jr., of Pottsville.

Jeff was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Class of 1976.

He loved his family, animals, and playing chess.

Jeff is preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Gray, III, and his former wife, Cynthia Gray.

In addition to his parents, he is also survived by two sisters, Eileen M. Rhody & husband, Andrew J., of Schuylkill Haven, & Debra Schiavoni, of Lancaster; a brother, Gregory Gray & wife, Elizabeth, of Pottsville, and eight nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 31st, with Monsignor Edward Zemanik officiating.

A viewing will be held Thursday from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. in the church's chapel.

Interment will immediately follow mass at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

June L. Daubert, 88, of Covered Bridge Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
Born on November 29, 1929 in Spring Glen, she was a daughter of the late Carlos and Margaret Hoover Hoffman.

She was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove and was a former member of the Women's Republican Convention.

June had worked at Canoe Mfg. and Summit Station Mfg., in Pine Grove, the Walk In Shoe Factory in Schuylkill Haven and before retiring was a dishwasher at the Truck Stop in Pine Grove. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Luke Daubert on June 19, 2011 and a sister, Betty Lenker.
Surviving are two sons; Lynn Daubert and fiancée Michelle Long of Pine Grove, Dean and wife Ann Marie Daubert of Pottsville; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Hoffman, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Richard Hoffman officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Pine Grove.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in her memory.

Dr. Ray N. Leidich, 89, passed away unexpectedly on Friday at home.

Born in Tremont in 1929, he was the son of the late Ray D. Leidich and the late Blanche Maguire. He was a 1947 graduate of Tremont High School and attended Muhlenberg College before acceptance at the Temple University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Leidich served a three year tour in the Navy Dental Corp during the Korean War. He returned to Tremont to practice general dentistry, serving a great number of patients in his community for more than two decades. Additionally, he and his wife, Dolores, operated the Tremont Pharmacy for many years.

In 2006, the Advanced Education in General Dentistry clinic at Temple University was named for Dr. and Mrs. Leidich. In 2014, Dr. Leidich was awarded the Temple University Alumni Association Impact Award for outstanding contribution and support of Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry.

A long term member of the Tremont American Legion Post 384, Dr. Leidich was also on the Board of Directors of several local service organizations, including the Schuykill County Industrial Development Authority and Schuykill Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, he was a member of the Schuykill County Historical Society and Tremont Borough Planning Commission. He was involved in the establishment of Tremont Nursing Home, and participated in the decision that brought Richmond Screw and Anchor to Tremont.

Dr. Leidich served on the Board of Directors of Tremont National Bank for decades, an institution that had been co-founded by his father.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Dolores Kupchinsky; a daughter Leanne McLaughlin and her husband, Joseph, Nevada; a son Dr. Raymond Bruce Leidich, Kansas; three granddaughters, Shannon John, Kerry McLaughlin and Kimberly McLaughlin; two great grandchildren, Reagan and Farrah John.

Colin M. Hasara, 38 of Mahanoy City, passed away Saturday at his home. Arrangements will be announced upon completion.

Andrew Joseph (Andy) Perzel, 74, of Cressona, passed away Saturday, May 26th, at Lehigh Valley Health Network Schuylkill-East, Pottsville. Andrew was born in Minersville,on July 27, 1943, a son of the late Andrew Purcell and Rita Marie Pasco.

He was the husband of Dolores A. (McDemus) Perzel, married for 44 years.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a Machine operator at Argo and Talbots before retiring. He was also a sexton for St. John's United Church of Christ in Orwigsburg for 24 years.

Andrew is survived by three daughters, Kimberly, wife of Landis Brown

Rose Marie, wife of Douglas Hartz, Michele A., wife of Cameron Parker and

a son,Bryon, husband of Cara, grandchildren Michael and Logan Perzel, Andrew Hartz and Jessica Zabarkas, Cameron, Dylan and Austin Parker. Great granddaughters Stephanie and Kaitlyn Hartz.. Numerous nieces & Nephews He is also survived by a brother, Joseph Perzel. Andy was predeceased by his brother Francis Perzel.

A religious service will be held Thursday, May 31 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Breiner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Orwigdburg. Friends and family are invited to call from 9 AM until time of service. Rev. Dr. Jan Remer-Osborn will officiate. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Chuch, at 12:30 PM , with Msgr. Edward Zemanik officiating. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, will be at 10:00 AM Monday June 4th.

Mary Clare Alfonsi, 90 of Pottsville, entered into eternal peace on Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian St.

She was born December 19, 1927 at home in Pottsville, a daughter of the late John Jr., and Anna Marrah McGovern.

She attended Pottsville Schools and was employed by the former Philip Van Heusen of Pottsville as a seamstress until she started a family with the love of her life, Andy.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and a former member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Clare loved life. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready for a road trip! She enjoyed watching country and western movies and listening to Johnny Cash and polkas. She especially loved her daughters, her grandchildren, great-grandson and her sister, Jane who was her best friend.

She was always happy to go shopping, attending shows and eating out. Clare never had a problem eating dessert first. Any time of the day was perfect time for ice cream and M&M’s!

Her life revolved around her family. Her happiest times were spent at family gatherings. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, spoiling her grandchildren, and her gentle happy-go-lucky nature. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she provided unconditional love and support.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alesandro “Andy” Alfronsi, on January 7, 2016; infant son Brian in 1965; a sister Catherine June Klema; a brother, John McGovern. Surviving are two daughters, Justina Majestic and her husband Chuck, Pottsville and Patty Semanchik and her husband Atty. Mark, Frackville; six grandchildren, Mark, Steven, Patrick and his wife Brooke, Daniel and Christina Semanchik, and Kelly Majestic Eales and her husband Rodger; one great-grandson Otto Eales; a sister, Jane McGovern Bobinis, Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11AM from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville with Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6-8PM Wednesday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville and again from 9:30-10:30AM Thursday at the funeral home. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contribution made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Interment will be at Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
