Heroin, Methamphetamine, Pills, and Cocaine Found During Search Warrant Thursday Morning

A Pottsville man is facing drug charges after authorities executed a search warrant Thursday morning.


On Thursday, June 7, 2018, members of the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police and Pottsville Bureau of Police, executed a Court-Authorized Search and Seizure Warrant on the residence located at 509 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville. The subject residence was the location of 2 opioid overdoses during 2018.


Items of contraband were subsequently seized from the residence including, but not limited to, the following:

 - 17.0 grams of heroin/fentanyl with an estimated street value of $8,500.00
 - 8.0 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $800.00
 - 47 Alprazolam pills
 - 9 Clonazepam pills
 - Small quantity of suspected cocaine
 - $1,310 of United States Currency
 - Two (2) firearms


As a result of the aforementioned seizure David Murphy; 53, of Pottsville, was charged with Possession With the Intent to Deliver(Heroin/Fentanyl), Possession With the Intent to Deliver (Methamphetamine), Possession With the Intent to Deliver(Alprazolam), Possession of a Controlled Substance(Heroin/Fentanyl), Possession of a Controlled Substance(Methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance(Alprazolam), Possession of a Controlled Substance(Clonazepam),
Possession of a Controlled Substance(Cocaine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia



Murphy was arraigned by the Honorable Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley,  Pottsville. Murphy was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $300,000.00 bail.
