Mahanoy City Police Charge 3 in Connection with a Drug Investigation in the Borough

Mahanoy City Police charge 3 in connection with a drug investigation with two taken into custody and a third still wanted.


According to Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky, three individuals were charged on Wednesday after an investigation into drug activity in the borough.

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018 around 2:35pm,  Nicole Lorah, 20, of Mahanoy City was taken into custody in the 900 block of East Mahanoy Ave.  Lorah had an active warrant stemming from charges filed by the Mahanoy City Police Department for Felony Conspiracy to commit Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Felony Criminal Use of Communication Facility. 

Lorah was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Kilker and was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 10% cash bail.

Joshua Derk, age 28, formerly of Mahanoy City, who is currently incarcerated at the Schuylkill County Prison for other offenses has been charged with Felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Felony Conspiracy to commit Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia.  Derk will be arraigned later in the week by Magisterial District Judge  Kilker.

Christopher Mullen, 45, of Coal Township Northumberland County, is still wanted due to an active arrest warrant from charges filed by Patrolman Renstschler for Felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia, and numerous Summary violations.

Zipovsky said "This investigation would not have been possible without the keen observations of the public, who provided us with the information that helped the police to identify the problem and remove it from their neighborhood.  Although two of the offenders are in custody, a third is still out on the streets.  The Mahanoy City Police Department continues its dauntless efforts that make a safer community."
