Girardville Man Charged with Assaulting Police Officer

A Girardville man is facing assault and drug charges after an incident early Sunday morning.

According to Girardville Police, on Sunday July 8, 2018 around 12:15 am, Girardville police encountered Steven Bolinsky, 47, Girardville,  in the middle of Preston avenue under the influence of a controlled substance.

Lieutenant Matthew Williams attempted to take Bolinsky into custody, and a violent struggle ensued on the front porch of 306 Preston Ave. 

Bolinsky was able to be taken into custody after being taken to the ground. 

A subsequent search of his belongings uncovered heroin, and a used syringe. 

Bolinsky was charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and summary harassment and public drunkenness.

He was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker, Shenandoah, and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. 

Girardville police was assisted by Police Departments from Ashland, Mahanoy City, and Mahanoy Twp Police Department.
