Pennsylvania State Police to Host Citizen Police Academy in Schuylkill County

The Pennsylvania State will host a Citizens' Police Academy in Schuylkill County.
The Pennsylvania State Police will host a Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) in Schuylkill County at the Penn State Agricultural Cooperative Extension, 1202 Ag Center Drive, Pottsville.

The program will expand citizens’ knowledge and understanding of the law and explore police procedure from the perspective of the Pennsylvania State Police. The CPA involves approximately 20 hours of instruction taught in two-hour segments. The program is scheduled to begin August 28, 2018 and end October 30, 2018. Participants meet each Tuesday night for 10 weeks from 6:30- 8:45 p.m. except for one Wednesday (September 12). Students must attend 75% or more of the scheduled classes to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate.

Class size is limited to allow greater interaction between students and instructors. Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvania.
