Flash Flooding Impacts Frackville and Gilberton


As heavy rains moved through northern Schuylkill County Sunday, flash flooding became an issue again for areas of Frackville and Gilberton.




FRACKVILLE - Route 61 was closed for a period of time when heavy rain caused some flooding at the intersection of Route 61 (South Lehigh Street) and Spruce Street.  State Police and Frackville Police were dispatched for traffic control while the waters receded.  PennDOT crews eventually arrived to clear the drains in the area.



FRACKVILLE - Flash flood was also an issue on West Arch Street near the intersection with South 2nd Street.







GILBERTON - Multiple fire units have been dispatched to the borough of Gilberton for flooding.  When Skook News was at the scene, Gilberton, the West End from Mahanoy City, and Englewood were dispatched.  Since additional units from other boroughs have been dispatched for assistance.
