Chill Out Ice Cream Parlor Raises Money for Shenandoah Valley Mini-Thon

On Wednesday evening, the Chill Out Ice Cream Parlor and Snack Shop presented money raised for the Shenandoah Valley School District's Mini-thon.

For the 2018-2019 school year, Shenandoah Valley is joining other schools around the country to help raise money to help the fight against childhood cancer.

The Mini-Thon is raising money towards Four Diamonds, which partners with the Penn State Health Children's Hospital,  and covers 100 percent of all medical expenses related to cancer care not covered by insurance.

Shenandoah Valley students have been raising money through t-shirt sales and a "Gold Out" game.

Chill Out is a business about giving back to the community and has been collecting $1.00 donations for the cause.  For every donation, a donor had their name written on a tag that was displayed in the restaurant.

On Wednesday evening, Chill Out employees Abby Conroy, Katlyn Hepler, and Gabe Hepler presented 300 tags and $400 to the Mini-Thon advisers Kevin Keating and Tony Pytko.  The money will be added to what the students have already collected this year.

The Shenandoah Valley Mini-Thon is scheduled to take place on March 23, 2019.
