Philadelphia Man Wanted in Schuylkill County Arrested in Hazleton

A Philadelphia man that was wanted in Schuylkill County was arrested in Hazleton on Sunday.


According to Hazleton Police, on Sunday, September 23, 2018, around 3:00pm, Hazleton Police Officer Ryan Mariano attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle, 2000 Jeep bearing PA Registration in the area of Peace and 5th Street.

The vehicle was stopped and a male identified as Dustin Hill of Philadelphia exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot while carrying a back pack.

The officer gave chase on foot and called for additional backup from Hazleton units that immediately responded to the area.

During the chase, Hill discarded a bag containing 150 bags of suspected heroin and was apprehended and placed in custody by Cpl. G. Shaffer who located Hill at 5th and Grant.

Officers Z. Molinaro, K. Crawford, D. Zapatocky and Chief J. Speziale assisted Shaffer in the arrest.

Dustin Hill is a Fugitive from Justice and wanted by Butler Township Police for Fleeing and Eluding, Pottsville Adult Probation and Pennsylvania State Parole.

Dustin Hill will be charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute, resisting arrest and possibly other charges as the investigation continues because 3 officers sustained injuries during the incident and will be medically checked out.

Hill is being processed at Hazleton Police Department headquarters and will be sent to the Luzerne County Correction Facility for lodging.
