Lorene A. Hope, 98, of Tamaqua, PA, died on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Hometown, PA. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Hope who died in February of 2002. 

Born in Orwigsburg, PA, Lorene was the daughter of the late Norman L. and Kathyrn (nee Fister) Stein. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua and the Tamaqua BPW. Loreen was an ardent supporter of Tamaqua High School events, was an avid Boscov’s shopper, and loved Jersey shore vacations. 

She is survived by sons, Thomas D. Hope and his wife Mae of Tamaqua, Gary C. Hope and his wife Gail of Hometown, Lafay J. Hope and his wife Deborah of Texas, and Matthew “Matt” J. Hope and his wife Lisa of Tamaqua; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brother, Norman Stein and his wife, Dolores of Orwigsburg; and several nephews and nieces. 

Lorene was preceded in death by a son, Robert C. Hope in 2011 and brothers, David Stein and Charles Stein. 

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 27 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, 503 West Broad Street, Tamaqua will follow the services. Call on Friday from 6-9 PM and on Saturday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. 

BPW services will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday during calling hours. Memorials in her name may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 North Greenwood Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252. Online condolences may be made at www.zgfuneralhome.com.

Phillip “Flip” James Gibble, 49, formerly of Pottsville passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Oberlin, PA.

Born June 21, 1969 in Pottsville, he was the son of Susan (Hock) Chesonis.

He was a graduate of Pottsville High School. Flip was a talented artist with drawings and tattoos. You can find his artwork throughout Schuylkill County.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vincent Sr. and Estel Hock and an aunt, Patricia Ann Laurel.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his step father, Albert Chesonis, Pottsville; son, Phillip Gibble, Jr; brother, William Joseph Gibble, Barnesville; uncle, Vincent Hock Jr. and his wife Wanda, IL; nieces, Samantha Gibble, Brooklyn, NY, Meranda Gibble, Wilkes Barre, and Melinda Gibble, Pottsville; and several cousins. He was also survived by his second family Robert and Wanda Mallamaci and their family, Oberlin, PA.

Family and friends may call 6-8 PM on Thursday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. A Memorial Service will be held 11AM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home. Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville.

Devin Michael Herring, 17, of Tremont, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Reilly Twp.

Born on November 24, 2000 in Pottsville, he was a son of Melissa Frantz Herring of Tremont and the late Harvey S. Herring.

He was a Senior at Pine Grove Area High School. He played baseball for Pine Grove and Tremont Little League and football for the Little Cardinals. He loved hunting, fishing, working on cars and hanging out with his friends.

Devin worked at OIP in Pine Grove.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sisters, Katie Herring at home, Courtney Herring; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. There will be a viewing on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. 139 S. Tulpehocken St. Pine Grove, PA 17963 in his memory.
