Ruth L Carl, age 84, of Barry Twp, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on Thursday, September 6, 1934, in Barry Twp, a daughter of the late Percy Deeter and the late Margaret Geist Deeter.

She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

She was a member of Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample.

Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Her husband Thomas F Carl, Sr, passed away in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son Franklin P Carl; a grandson, Jason E Oxenrider; and five brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas F Carl, Jr and his wife Emily Ann of Hegins and Donald F Carl and his wife Angela of Hegins; four daughters, Susan L Klock of Hegins, Ann L Bowman and her husband Mark of Hegins, Patricia A Carl and her companion Chas of Pine Grove, and Beth A Heaney of South Carolina; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Deeter of Hegins; five sisters, Margaret Reichenbach of Treverton, Marlene Lucas of Lavelle, Dorothy Conniff of Lavelle, LaRae Lucas of Hegins, and June Sweinhart of Hegins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 10:00 am, with Rev. W. Keith Rockwell officiating.

A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday at the church.

Burial will be made in Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Tri-Valley Charities, P.O. Box 751, Valley View PA 17983.

Brenda Fishborn, 62, of Ashland, PA, passed away Friday, October 26th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Brenda was born in Frackville, PA on June 10, 1956, a daughter of the late Joan (Faust) Lipshaw and William Lafey.

Attended local schools.

She worked as a certified nurse’s aid at many nursing homes, most recently Ridge View in Shenandoah.

She was the wife of David Fishburn.

Brenda is also survived by four sons David Fishburn Jr., of Ashland; Michael Fishburn Sr., of Ashland; Ted Fishburn Sr., of Ashland; Adam Fishburn, of Ashland; and by
five sisters, Sandra Tutko, of Mahanoy City; Lois Sanders, of Shenandoah; Donna Luschinsky, of Shenandoah; Helen Tyson, of Gilberton; Mary Ramer, of Halifax; and a sister in law Robin Wentworth of Tamaqua

She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, Nieces and nephews.

Brenda is preceded in death by brothers William, and Thomas and a sister Elaine Sergent.

A Graveside Service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery Frackville, at Saturday November 3rd 10 AM with Rev. Dennis Snyder officiating.

Christian Benner, Sr., 86, of Pitman the last 28 years and formerly of Hatboro passed away Saturday, October 27th, at his home.

Christian was born in Hatboro, PA on January 11, 1932, a son of the late Minnie (Schramm) and William Merrill Benner.

He was the preceded in death by his wife Mary E. (Strzelecki) Benner who passed away September 30, 2015.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S Tingey D.D. 539.

He was self-employed working as a carpenter.

Chris attended Hepler's Church of God

He enjoyed attending Navy reunions. He was an avid card player and looked forward to sitting on his porch and going for rides.

Christian is survived by a son, Christian, Jr, husband of Sheila Benner, of Quakertown; four daughters, Bonnie, wife of Rodney Clemmer; Cathy, wife of Art Snyder, Debbie, wife of Richard Lowthert, Wendy, wife of Richard Steich, all of Pitman; a daughter-in-law Linda Benner of Bedminster; 15 Grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lee Benner, an infant daughter Cindy Benner; and siblings William, Gertrude, Ellen, Jean, George, and Charles.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Hepler's Church of God, where the funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Bob Cassel and Pastor Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Hepler's Church of God Cemetery Pitman.

Leonard George Dixon, Sr., 84, of Pottsville, PA, passed away Sunday, October 28th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Cressona, PA on July 22, 1934, he was a son of the late Socrates & Lolita (Reber) Dixon.

He was the husband of Elaine (Evely) Dixon.

Leonard served in the U.S. Army as a PFC.

In addition to his wife, Leonard is also survived by three daughters: Theresa Hines & husband, David, York, Kathy Stump & husband, Scott, Schuylkill Haven, & Ellen Burnhauser & husband, Douglas, Schuylkill Haven, as well as two sons: Michael Dixon & wife, Sharon, Friedensburg, & Leonard Dixon, Jr., Pottsville.

He is also survived by grandchildren: Ashley Morgalis, Samantha DeColli, Matthew Dixon, Megan Hines, & Amanda Dixon, and a great-grandson, Bennett.

In addition to his parents, Leonard is also preceded in death by his brothers; Socrates, Vincent, & Lawrence, and sisters; Natalia & Gertrude.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 1st, with Reverend Matt Kenitzer officiating.

A viewing will be held Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

Lorraine J. Hummel, 84, of 11 High St., Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Schoolyard Square, Pine Grove.
Born on May 10, 1934 in Friedensburg, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Pauline Schaeffer Hummel.
She was a 1952 graduate of Pine Grove High School and graduated from McCann School of Business.
Lorraine was a secretary for the Dept of Defense.
She was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, Friedensburg and a 50 yr. member of the former Mary E. Moore Chapter No. 372 and Cressona Chapter No. 367 Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death was her first husband, Russell Morgan in 1981, a grandson, James Michael Young and a brother, Ernest Hummel.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Hummel; children, Dennis and wife Tina Morgan, Barbara and husband David Young, Robert Jr. and wife Lisa Hummel, Daniel and wife Donna Hummel, John Hummel, Michael and wife Patricia Hummel; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Mike Coppello, Kate Young and companion Mike Donmoyer, Dave Young and companion Jennifer Cinelli Young, Melinda and husband Andrew Diehl, Tracy and husband Andrew Conrad, Reba and husband Tony Russo; 5 step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, Alexis and Matthew Coppello, Bryce and Taylor Donmoyer, Bryan Cinelli, Allyson and Adilynn Young, Miranda Diehl, Caroline and Anna Mae Russo; 7 step great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Jason Stump officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial, Schuylkill Haven.

Mary A. Sanza, 90, of Minersville, passed away on Saturday at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Zemond Secoges. She was a 1947 graduate of Minersville High School. She first worked at the former H.L. Green five-and-ten store in Pottsville. She later took employment at the former Miracle Mart and King’s Department Store, Minersville, where she became the manager of the cosmetics department.

She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville and was a current member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville.

Mary enjoyed reading and Word Find puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Sanza, in 2007; two siblings, Ann Secoges and Joseph Secoges.

Mary is survived by three children, Mary Ann Lipka, (spouse, Richard), West Chester, John Sanza (spouse, Joan), Erie, and Joanne Machita (spouse, Raymond), Minersville; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Secoges (spouse, Joan), Reading; two nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 541 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Friday at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. The family prefers donations to St. Michael Church or to Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill for activities.

Joseph F. Kukowski, age 45, formerly of New Boston, died Friday morning at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation of Frackville. 

 Joseph was born January 9, 1973 at the former Coaldale Hospital and lived most of his life in New Boston. He loved camping at watching all kind of sports. He love the Miami Dolphins most of all. He loved collecting baseball cards, fishing and taking walks with his dogs. His greatest passion was listening to his music, any and all kinds. He loved doing imitations of cartoon characters especially of Bevis and Butthead and all of his nieces and nephews called him Uncle Beavis. 

 He was preceded in death by his beloved father Joseph, paternal grandparents Joseph and Bertha Kukowski, maternal grandparents Edward and Eleanor Rehatchek, and two aunts Deborah Shiner and Judith Permar. 

 He is survived by his mother Linda Kukowski of Shenandoah, a sister Tracy wife of John Arbushites, a brother Edward and his long time girlfriend Angel of Mt. Carmel and his brother Brian Kukowski of Shenandoah, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him dearly. 

Services will be held at a later date.

Catherine C. Bendetti, 84, of Orwigsburg, passed away Sunday, October 28th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Arrangements are being entrusted to The Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg.
