Shenandoah Bank Robbery Suspect in Custody

A man wanted for a robbery in Shenandoah last week has been taken into custody.

According to Shenandoah Police Chief George Carado, Jamie Lee Johnson, 38, was taken into custody after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in Duryea, Luzerne County, late Sunday.  Carado said that Duryea Police took Johnson into custody without incident.

Johnson waived extradition to Schuylkill County and was later arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $100,000.00 cash bail.

Johnson was wanted by police after an investigation led to him being the suspect for an October 22nd, 2018 bank robbery at the M&T Bank, located at 2 North Main Street in Shenandoah.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken during the robbery.

Johnson has been charged with Robbery-demand money from a financial institution, Robbery-taking property by force, Robbery-Inflict threat to bodily injury, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and simple assault.
