Disabled Vehicle on Interstate 81 Leads to Discovery of Fugitive

A wanted fugitive in New York was taken into custody after his vehicle became disabled on Interstate 81 on Friday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, Jamel Felton, 27, of Columbia, South Carolina was encountered with a disabled vehicle in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Milemark 109 in Frailey Twp. on Friday.

Police say an NCIC check revealed a warrant from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office in Syracuse, New York.

Felton's original charge was possession of a weapon.

Felton was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Bayer on a fugitive from justice charged.

Felton was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 bail and is awaiting extradition.
