John F. “Jack” Moran, 89, Frackville, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Girardville, he was a son of the late Martin and Kathryn O’Donnell Moran. Jack worked as an insurance sales manager until his retirement.

Jack was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. As a graduate of Penn State University, Jack was a devout Penn State football fan and a member of the Alumni Association.

Jack was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Frackville. He was an outgoing and social member of the community being involved in many organizations such as the Knights of Columbus Council 2580, Frackville; the Schuylkill Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Pottsville; the Frackville American Legion Post 398 and the Ancient Order of Hibernians Jack Kehoe Division 1, Girardville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Kodis Moran in 1996; his brother, Ted Moran and a sister Regina “Jean Kowker” Miller.

Jack is survived by his three loving children, Patricia, Christine and David Moran; his sister Eleanor “Nonie” and her husband Thomas Scott; his sisters-in-law: Fena and Helen Kodis; his devoted friend Irene Roman along with many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 49 N. Line Street Frackville with Rev. Brian Miller, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Joseph J. Yanushefsky Sr., 91, Shenandoah, passed away Thursday, November 8th, at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah, PA.

Joseph was born in Shenandoah, PA on March 17, 1927, a son of the late Catherine (Stranvinskas) and Anthony Yanushefsky.

Graduated from Shenandoah High School and attended electrical trade school.

He was a member of the former St. Georges, now Devine Mercy Shenandoah.

He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl in the Korean War.

He was the owner of Capital Food Market in Shenandoah.

He was a member of the Polish American fire company, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, the Moose, Catholic War Veterans, Six County Firemens Association, and the Knights of Lithuania.

He was the widower of Violet (Gudonis) Yanushefsky.

Joseph is survived by a son, Joseph Jr., husband of Marylou and by 2 Grandchildren Joseph III, Janelle Chatcavage. 2 Great Grandchildren Lucas and Jameson. Nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by brothers Albert, John and a sister Eva Limper.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11am on Thursday, November 15th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friend may call Thursday 9 to 11am at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Interment private at convenience of the Family St. Georges Cemetery Shenandoah.

Family prefers donations be made to Janet Weis Children's Hospital Danville PA.

Gary L. Hulsman, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. 

A longtime resident at Weatherwood Healthcare Center, Weatherly, PA, he expressed his fondness towards the staff and other residents, caring for them as family. 

Born in Coaldale, PA on May 30, 1946, Gary was a son of the late James N. and Ethel (nee Storch) Hulsman. He attended Tamaqua Area Schools and lived with his parents on Pine Street in Tamaqua, PA until in later years when health complications deemed it necessary to make Weatherwood his home. In his earlier years, Gary was employed by the Schultz Tire Corporation, Delano, PA as a quality inspector. He also worked for the Tamaqua Borough performing various maintenance duties. A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, Gary served as a sexton for his church for numerous years as well. Above all, he was a sports enthusiast and was very passionate about the Notre Dame and the Philadelphia Eagles football teams. Gary was also an avid fan of the Yankees and 76ers, having been in attendance when Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points at the Hershey Sports Arena, Hershey, PA in March 1962. A listener of Rock and Roll music, he could be heard singing some of his favorite songs in the halls of Weatherwood. 

Gary is survived by a sister, Joan Miller; sister-in-law, Irene Hulsman; nieces; a nephew; several cousins; and devoted lifelong friend, John Ferry. 

He was predeceased by his brother, James W. Hulsman.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 14 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating.

Janet L. Frederick, 84, of Williamstown, passed away Friday morning at her home.

Born in Landingville, March 3, 1934 a daughter of the late George and Helena Deibert Schwenk.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School.

Janet was a retired seamstress from the garment industry.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Wiconisco.

Janet's life revolved around her family, they meant the world to her. She enjoyed traveling and doing cryptograms.

She is survived by her husband, Jacob "Jake" Frederick; three sons, Chris Shutt and his wife Janette, Williamstown; Gene Shutt and his wife Annette, Tower City and Scott Frederick and his wife Jessica, New Bloomfield. Six grandchildren, Brooke, Marissa, Tiffany, Mallory, Alyssa and Alexander; one sister, Joyce Sponsler, Tower City; one brother, Floyd Schwenk, Lykens. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15th at 10:30 am from the Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Betsworth and Pastor Annette Shutt. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Memorial donations in Janet's name should be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O.
