District Attorney O'Pake Cautions County Residents About Potential Acts of Theft and Fraud

Schuylkill County District Attorney Michael O'Pake would like to remind and caution all residents regarding potential acts of Theft and Fraud being perpetrated by individuals against citizens of Schuylkill County.

According to a press release, "The acts are being committed primarily against our Senior Citizens, however, all citizens can be harmed by these acts".

Reports have been received where these individuals are preying on the sympathy and emotions of our senior citizens and requesting financial assistance for family members who are allegedly in distress.  These reports have also been determined to be false and deceptive.

"Take all precautions and verify if any family emergency exists", said O'Pake.

"If you should receive a telephone call, e-mail, or other communication regarding people attempting to sell, provide or furnish any service, subscription or product that you feel is a potential fraud, do not provide any personal information, credit card information or banking information to anyone", O'Pake adds.

Anyone who believes or feels your information may have been compromised, should contact your bank or credit card companies, as well as your local police department or the office of the District Attorney.

Be sure have as much information available to provide to the authorities about the potential perpetrator. '
