State Police Investigating Theft of Backhoe Along Interstate 81 Overnight

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville are investigating the theft of a backhoe along Interstate 81 overnight in Mahanoy Township.


Police say the theft occurred sometime between 1:30am and 3:00am, Friday, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Milemarker 132.

The victim had been traveling south on Interstate 81 when he got a flat tire on his trailer which was hauling a 2013 Orange Kubota Corp.

The victim had pulled to the right side of the highway, unhooked the trailer with the backhoe on it, and left to get a new tire.

The victim was gone roughly an hour and half but when he returned, he found that the backhoe had been stolen with the trailer still at the scene.

The stolen vehicle is described as an orange 2013 KubotaBX 25 4x4 with a backhoe and loader attachments.  Te backhoe also has a roll over protection systemand an orange slow moving triangle displayed on the rear.
