2nd Annual Bundukie Challenge to Benefit William "Babe" Conroy Memorial Scholarship Fund

The 2nd Annual Bundukie Challenge is this Saturday, January, 26th, 2019.


The event will take place at the Glover's Hill Athletic Club in Shenandoah.  The event has 2 openings left for anyone wishing to participate.

You may be asking yourself, What is a bundukie?  Bundukies are Lithuanian Meatballs made with pork and are popular in the coal region.

The 20 contestants will be making 3 dozen of their best bundukies which will be judged by 10 judges.

Those 10 judges will be Haley Bianco from Eyewitness News, Schuylkill County District Attorney Mike O'Pake, Doc from Froggy 101 in Wilkes Barre, Dave Lukashunas, Mayor Szczyglak, Mark Kowalonek, Ed Lizewski, Mike Petcavage, Dan Salvadore, and someone from Mrs. T’s Pierogies.

The meatballs will be judged on taste, texture, and appearance.

Doors will open at 5:00pm with judging starting at 6:00pm.

The event is $20 a person for anyone who wants to attend and includes all you can eat and drink.

There will also be live entertainment, a 50-50, a raffle table, and door prizes from 9:00pm until Midnight.

All the proceeds from the event benefit the William "Babe" Conroy Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship is awarded to a Senior Shenandoah Valley Baseball Player who has played all 4 years and will be continuing their education in college or technical school.
