Ashland Police Arrest Man Wanted for Assault; 5 Facing Hindering Apprehension Charges

A man that has been wanted for assault in a crash in Ashland is now in custody.


According to Police, on Monday evening, around 6:00pm, Ashland Police Officer Harry Brown took Justin Braunstein, 23, no known address, into custody at 332 Centre Street in the borough.

Braunstein was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge on charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bail.

From the incident, 5 individuals that reside at 332 Centre Street will be facing hindering apprehension charges.

Braunstein's charges stem from a crash in Ashland on January 11, 2019.

The crash occurred just after 9:30am in the 1400 Block of Centre Street in Ashland.

Police say Laurie Ann Lazarski was driving down Centre Street with her boyfriend, Justin Braunstein as a passenger.  They got into an argument, Braunstein grabbed the wheel, causing the vehicle to turn north and crash into a parked vehicle.

After the impact, both vehicles hit and damaged the front porch of 1413 Centre Street.

After the crash, and before emergency personnel arrived, Braunstein fled with his dog down Centre Street.
