Burglary that Led to Standoff Ends in Arrest in Lake Wynonah

A standoff ended peacefully with an arrest in Lake Wynonah, Wayne Township, Wednesday evening.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, a 63 year old woman arrived home, on Geronimo Drive, to find a vehicle in her driveway.

When the woman attempted to open the front door to her home, she found it to be locked.  When she walked away, a man later identified as Terry Short, 55, of Auburn,  came out of the front door holding two pillowcases full of items from the home.

Short took the phone out of the woman's hand after a verbal confrontation in the driveway.

Short went inside of the home with the woman where he pulled a pistol on the victim and forced her to walk in front of him in the house.

Short retrieved items from within the house, then fled the scene in his vehicle.  The victim was able to positively identify Short to police.

Around 4:30pm, an arrest and search warrant was obtained for Short and his residence.

When police arrived, Short refused to leave his house willingly.

The PA State Police Special Emergency Response Team was activated and was able to take the Accused into custody without incident around 8:30pm.

Short is facing charges of Burglary, Robbery, Theft, and aggravated assault.
